The Athletics WA Potential Athlete Development Squad is a performance pathway program that will ensure that all athletes are given opportunity to succeed. They will be:
Given every opportunity to develop as an athlete;
Encouraged to take part in the state level squad and given every chance to participate in development activities;
Create meaningful contacts between State PADS Coaches and the young athletes and their personal coaches;
By engaging Western Australia’s junior athletes and coaches through the Potential Athlete Development Squad, athletes and coaches will be assisted in achieving their full potential through opportunity.
The 2018 PADS will be open to all athletes (Able body and Para) from athletics WA, Little Athletics WA and schools born in 1999 to 2007.
State PADS Coaches will be appointed within four event groups (Sprints & Hurdles, Endurance & Walks, Jumps, and Throws) and will act as points of contact for PAP squad athletes and their personal coaches. Up to eight State PADS Coaches may be appointed.
The 2018 PADS will run from Saturday 26 May 2018 – 20 October 2018

This is an integrated program that will include both able-bodied and Para-athletes.
AWA will coordinate and present a series of six (6) PADS Days in 2018 season (additional sessions may be added);
The Squad Days will integrate able-bodied and para-athletes;
Invitations will extend to athletes, their personal coaches and their parents to attend each Squad Day;
Each Squad Day will be a mixture of event specific training and education sessions.
There is a cost of $180.00 for the PADS. This fee includes administration fees, venue hire, presenter’s fees, athlete t-shirts, and coach professional development opportunities.
